ASSISTANT SUPERVISORS (GEOPHYSICS)

Salary: £25,200.00 + generous benefits package (pay review pending)

Hours: Full time, 37.5h/week

Locations: Based at Yorkshire & North office, Cleckheaton, although travel nationwide will be required

Contract Type: 6 month fixed-term contract with a view to extension

Due to a large volume of work the geophysical survey team at Headland are looking to recruit additional staff. You will be joining a team of experienced geophysicists with over 60 years combined experience.

The Role

We are looking to recruit Assistant Supervisors, who are committed and results-driven individuals. This is an intermediary position to help develop future Project Supervisors (Level 2). You will buddy up with Supervisors and Project Officers to learn the job which includes undertaking a wide range of geophysical and other field-based surveys, as well as analysis and reporting. You will be based in our offices in Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire.

 

As part of the geophysics team, you will get involved in large and exciting projects across all parts of the United Kingdom and the EU. Working away and travelling to new places is a normal part of this role; therefore, willingness to travel is essential.

Magnetometry

Earth Resistance

Low Frequency Electromagnetics

Ground Penetrating Radar

Metal Detecting

 

The nature of the surveys varies from small scale projects which may be completed in a day or two to major infrastructure projects which may take several weeks.  Virtually all the surveys will involve working away from your office base in West Yorkshire and travelling to new places is a normal part of this role. Weekend working may occasionally be required.

Essential Skills and Qualities:

  • Minimum of 3 months experience in commercial geophysics
  • A general working knowledge of archaeological geophysics
  • A Degree in Archaeology, or in a relevant subject
  • Willing to work outdoors in all weather
  • A “Can do” attitude and willingness to learn
  • Good organisational & communication skills
  • High level of use of English language
  • Full UK manual driving license and willingness to drive company vehicles
  • Willingness to work away from home
  • Up to date CSCS card (Academically Qualified Person or Professionally Qualified Person)
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Embrace inclusion and diversity
  • Willingness to develop your people skills
  • Substantial knowledge of MS Office and English language
