    Senior Post-excavation Officer

    Claire joined Headland in 2019 as a Post-excavation Project Officer and was promoted to Senior Post-excavation Officer in 2020. During her time at the company, she has worked on some of Headland’s high-profile projects such as the A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon and the Triton Knoll Onshore Electrical System. She is involved in the assessment and analysis phase of projects working with data from a variety of sources and specialists.

    Claire has a PhD in Archaeology as well as extensive research experience specialising in the prehistoric archaeology of Britain. She has presented her research at international conferences, in journals and edited volumes, and has contributed to regional research strategies. She continues to collaborate with university partners, most recently to explore submerged prehistoric landscapes in Shetland. Claire has specific skills in GIS, including topographic and spatial modelling, and remote sensing. As a GIS Assistant for the Shetland Amenity Trust, she managed the Sites and Monuments Record working to update this large dataset through community engagement, aerial photography transcription and walkover survey. Claire has a background in research, teaching and community engagement. She has worked with community groups on excavations and events, taught on undergraduate level courses, and was a leader of the Aberdeen Young Archaeologists Club.
