Andy Norton

Managing Director

Prior to joining Headland in 2024 Andy spent the first part of his career working for Oxford Archaeology in the south of England, starting out as a site assistant in the mid 1990s and working his way up to Senior Project Manager.  Andy specialised in large scale cemetery excavations and unpicking Oxford’s Saxon and medieval core, with ten years spent excavating, managing and publishing work at Oxford Castle.

In 2011 Andy moved to Wessex Archaeology to oversee business development and the establishment of their new Sheffield office. As Regional Director Andy oversaw the expansion of the team from a regional hub to 100 staff working on large scale schemes such as EA1, Viking Link, HS2, and Wylfa Newydd.

After 10 years with Wessex Andy took up a new challenge with Ecus, who had recently purchased Northern Archaeological Associates (NAA). Andy was responsible for the smooth transitioning of NAA and developed a national heritage, archaeology and geophysics team. Andy was also responsible for the Sheffield based landscape architecture, arboriculture, and environment teams.

As part of his role as Headland’s managing director, Andy heads up the sales, business development, innovation and marketing teams, with a focus on taking Headland into new markets.
