Eddie Bailey

Eddie has 14 years’ experience in commercial archaeology, working throughout England, Northern Ireland and Scotland. Eddie’s main responsibilities include the day-to-day management of archaeological projects, preparing cost estimates and specifications for archaeological work.

Eddie’s field experience is varied and covers most periods of British archaeology, from prehistory to 20th century. He has been involved in a number of Headland’s major excavations including the post-medieval urban sites at Giles Street and Jeffrey Street in Edinburgh, A4/5 Northern Ireland and Powmyre Quarry, Angus.

He moved into project management in 2010 and one of the first projects he was responsible for was the Forth Replacement Crossing. Excavations here uncovered the earliest hunter-gatherer settlements on the Scottish mainland. Since then, he has managed excavations at Brenkley Surface Coal Mine, Newcastle, Third Don Crossing, Aberdeen and Old High School, Edinburgh.

Eddie is also Headland ‘s Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental Manager responsible for maintaining and implementing the company’s policies and procedures. He works closely with HSE Solutions Ltd who are Headland’s designated Health and Safety Advisors. Eddie has also completed the IOSH Course ‘Managing Safely’ and gained a NEBOSH  Certificate in Construction Health and Safety in  2014.
