Callum Allsop
Project Manager
Callum has been working as a commercial archaeologist since graduating from Swansea University with a BA(Hons) in Ancient and Medieval History in 2010, with a brief break in 2012 to get an MA in the History and Archaeology of the Greek and Roman World from Cardiff University. Since 2015, Callum has been supervising and running archaeological fieldwork, and subsequently managing archaeological projects since 2018. Throughout his career as a field archaeologist, he has gained wide-ranging knowledge of fieldwork and post-excavation practices and has contributed to various large-scale and small-scale archaeological projects (both commercial and non-commercial) in the UK from the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides to the Essex coastline and abroad.
Callum has worked closely with a wide range of commercial clients and development control archaeologists during the preparation of pre-determination reports, such as Desk Based Assessments and Heritage Statements, through to the delivery of the results of archaeological fieldwork to release archaeological conditions through the planning system.
Callum joined Headland Archaeology in 2024 as a Project Manager (Fieldwork) at their Silsoe office. His role is to manage and work flexibly on a wide range of archaeological contracts involving the preparation and delivery of archaeological results to release archaeological planning conditions. He has built up extensive experience and knowledge of rural and urban archaeology across the UK. He also has a personal interest in the Roman and Medieval periods and has published work on his specialised area of archaeology: Roman Britain and the militarisation of diet in indigenous British populations post-conquest.
