Heritage Consultancy
Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a statutory process that identifies the likely significant environmental effects of proposed developments, including effects on the historic environment and cultural heritage. Our team of experienced heritage consultants provide specialist cultural heritage input to EIA, from initial screening and scoping through to the preparation of the Environmental Statement (ES) chapter.
We have extensive experience of providing EIA input for major development projects across all sectors, including wind farms, solar parks, road and rail schemes, pipelines, power stations, residential developments and commercial schemes. Our EIA work is supported by a thorough understanding of the relevant legislation and policy guidance in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
Our EIA service includes baseline assessment of the cultural heritage resource, assessment of the potential effects of the proposed development, identification of appropriate mitigation measures, and cumulative impact assessment. We prepare clear, concise and well-illustrated ES chapters that meet the requirements of the relevant regulations and are readily understood by decision-makers.
We work closely with other EIA disciplines and the project design team to ensure that heritage considerations are integrated into the design process at the earliest possible stage, thereby reducing the potential for adverse effects and the need for costly mitigation.
