Yorkshire & NorthGeophysicsOffice
Geophysics Consultant/Fieldwork Project Manager
Alistair has more than 30 years’ archaeological experience having worked in commercial archaeology since 1989. For the majority of this time he was employed by Archaeological Services WYAS, initially carrying out geophysical surveys and other developer funded archaeological field projects and for more than 15 years managing the geophysical survey teams. Alistair has extensive and wide ranging experience and knowledge of archaeological geophysics having been involved in commercial surveys since the early 1990s when he was also a day release student on the MSc Archaeological Geophysics post-graduate course at Bradford University. Over the last 10 years at ASWYAS he took on a broader role managing multi-disciplinary archaeological fieldwork projects such as the surveys and excavations along the Westernmost Rough Windfarm Cable Corridor. During the 25 years at ASWYAS he authored in excess of 350 grey literature reports and co-authored a publication on the medieval and post-medieval archaeology of Bradford, a project he also managed.
In April 2015 Alistair joined Headland as Regional Manager to set up and run the Yorkshire & North office in Leeds with the aim of bringing geophysics in-house at Headland and creating a regional hub. Since 2020 he has been Head of Geophysics at Headland managing the geophysics component of numerous largescale infrastructure projects including the East Anglia ONE North/TWO Offshore Windfarm Cable Corridor and most recently the A66 Upgrade Scheme.
