Association for Industrial Heritage - Archaeological Report Award

Headland Archaeology are proud to congratulate Dr Mark Adams, Principal Archaeology and Built Heritage Consultant, on his Archaeological Report Award 2024 from the Association for Industrial Heritage for the report on the Liverpool Docks for the Isle of Man Government.

While the archaeological works were a team effort, Mark’s unparalleled knowledge of the Liverpool Dock archives, and his research therein were key to interpreting elements of the hydraulic-powered dock infrastructure.

Judges agreed it was “the most impressive of submissions received. Given that it was a watching brief, the report recorded everything in incredible detail and demonstrated some very interesting and significant results… As the recording of such remains is very rare, the judges had no hesitation in making this award for such pioneering recording”.
